Continually higher COP and IPLV, larger capacity and lower GWP

Hitachi launched the world's first single-stage oil-free screw chiller in 1981, which had a capacity range of 22-45kw and used R22 refrigerant. This chiller was considered to be the most advanced at the time and won the JSRAE award. Since then, we have continued to develop chiller technology, focusing on higher COP and IPLV, larger capacities, and lower GWP. Hitachi's latest water-cooled screw chiller, the WVY series, uses R134a refrigerant and offers cooling capacities from 102-520RT (358kW-1,830kW) with high-efficiency cooling operation up to COP 5.79, which helps reduce electricity consumption and lower CO2 impact

Hitachi Chillers are built to perform at a high level, providing consistent and reliable cooling. For example, our Air-Cooled Modular Inverter Chillers (AVSY) can operate in ambient temperatures from -15C (or -25C for Low Ambient models) right up to 43C and include a smart defrosting mode for cold climates. Our inverter centrifugal chillers (GFG-SIT/GXG-SIT/GSG-SIT Series) enable stable operation even when using a low water inlet temperature, because the motor speed control range has been extended through improvements in oil temperature supply and recovery. By operating using low-temperature water during cold seasons, very little energy is used by the compressor thanks to the inverter motor control and a high-efficiency economizer, boosting COP up to 22.4 under partial load1.

Ensure enhanced heat transfer via multi-way air inlet design that’s designed in a U-shape to increase heat exchange area and minimize unit footprint. Internal threads in each copper tube increases internal turbulence and therefore heat transfer area further, while an integrated drain pan is set at the bottom of the heat exchanger to facilitate drainage.

New rotor design decreases internal leakage of refrigerant during the compression process, and is manufactured by the most advanced abrasive process equipment offering the least friction and high plot ratio under the film seal, which means low vibration and noise. • Precise capacity modulation, enabling unit capacity scaling down from 100% to 20% (<300 ton with one comp. unit) and 15% (>300 ton with twin comp. unit)

Cyclone Oil Separator

The adoption of centrifugal oil separator compared with a traditional filter type oil separator, ensures there is no resistance produced by the oil filter net, therefore reducing energy consumption of the compressor. At the same time the oil separation efficiency is greatly improved, reducing the amount of oil entering the heat exchanger while ensuring effective lubrication of the compressor.

WZY Series (Flooded or Dry Evaporator)_2

Dry-Type Unit Evaporator (100-125RT)

Dry Type evaporator use a lower quantity of refrigerant in a sealed chamber, dispensing with the need for an external oil pump or oil return filter, and therefore having very low maintenance needs. Multiple condensing units circulate independently, which enables good performance in standby applications where sudden extra capacity is required.

Connect up to 8 Hitachi chillers together using H-LINK wiring. Alternatively, use ModBus or BACNET protocol to connect theoretically up to 250 units to a Building Management System (BMS).

In multi-unit configurations operating at less than full load, individual compressor units can be configured to balance their operating time themselves, ensuring even wear across all units.

The inlet and outlet water temperatures can be set with ±0.5°C accuracy, accepting water input temperature from 22-40°C and chilling water output from 4-15°C.

Built-in protection systems

11 different protection systems built in to automatically prevent damage to the unit caused by condenser pressure or exhaust temperatures being too high, compressor motor temperature protection, discharge and suction pressure range safeguards, and protection of the compressor from incorrect power supply or current surges. In addition all units feature anti-freeze capabilities to avoid crystallization of the refrigeration liquid and an oil heater to ensure lubrication performance. Flooded Type models also have protection against a lack of chilled water flow or an oil shortage with differential pressure flow switches.

Solar-link Waste Heat Driven Absorption

The Gene-Link absorption chiller is a waste heat-driven chiller driven by steam or natural gas and supplemental hot water from cogeneration systems or solar heat panels. It can lead to significant energy savings and cost reductions, as well as a reduced environmental impact, and can be used in wide applications where reliable, large-scale cooling is needed, such as commercial buildings, industrial processes, and data centers.

Gas-fired absorption chiller Gene-Link (EXJE series)

The input of waste hot water can reduce gas consumption by approximately 40% during rated cooling operations. Additionally, the chiller can be operated with waste hot water only under low load conditions (approximately 58% or lower), and during partial load operations, priority is given to the use of waste hot water, significantly reducing gas consumption. Furthermore, in addition to the waste hot water from cogeneration systems, the Gene-link absorption chiller can also utilize solar heat as another potential waste heat source.

 

On the other hand, by installing a plate heat exchanger on the Gene-Link side for heating operation, waste heat can be utilized, eliminating the need for a heat exchanger on the facility side and simplifying the system. This can result in a gas consumption reduction rate of 55% to 69% for heating(optional).

Steam-fired Absorption chiller with cogeneration systems

This unit increases the amount of waste hot water recovered from cogeneration systems compared to conventional models while reducing the amount of steam consumed by 30%. Additionally, the chiller can operate with waste hot water alone under low load conditions (approximately 50% or lower).
